The World Of Contact Lenses

If you do not like to wear eye glasses, you can solve your problem with the use of contact lenses. Contact lenses give you the same result as the glasses but in contact lenses, you do not have to wear this uncomfortable glasses that can disturbe you all day long.

Contact lenses are easy to wear and undetectable when a person wears it. Contact lenses are made of thin plastics specifically polymers. In 1960's the first pair of contact lenses was available from the polymere Poly methyl methacrylate. It was curved from the inside for properly fitting on the surface of the eye.
Contact lenses can be colored for the appearance of the eye or to make it easy to handle them (with a light tint that don't change the eye color).

Contact lenses are used for the same optical error corrections, that are rectified by glasses.

Myopia: This is a eyesight abnormality which results from the eye's faulty refractive ability where distant objects appear blurred. the reasone is: to high power in the eye that cause the light to focus before the retina.

Hyperopia: It is an abnormal condition in which vision for distant objects is generally better than those for near objects, and can be correct with the use of Accomodation, a cilliar muscle that can change the power of the eye's internal lens. The use of accomodation is easy for kids and not available for adults. so this is the reasone why one should use his glasses more often in eldery ages.

Astigmatism: It is a type of optical defect in which the vision is blurred due to irregular curvature of the cornea or lens of the eye. In this condition, you can find two prescriptions in one eye.

Presbyopia: It is a condition in which the eye's ability to focus on nearby objects reduces progressively. the ability is 15 minus your aged devide by 4. so in the age 60 you should have no accomodation at all.

Features of contact Lens:

Contact lens are made of different materials soft and rigid, and come in various colours and designs. The various types of contact lenses include disposable, aphakic, astigmatic, coloured, presbyopic and keratoconic lenses. Proper fitting and careful managing of contact lens is required otherwise it may lead to various problems.

Advantages of contact lens:

Contact lenses are useful to those who don't like wearing glasses and also for those who are in the world of modeling and sports. Contact lens changes the look of the person i.e. it makes a human being more attractive compared to a person in glasses.

Contact lenses correct those problems that glasses cannot. Another bigger advantage is that they do not get wet, fogging up and slipping off which can happen with glasses but not with contact lens.

People who have their cataract removed feel more comfortable with contact lenses compared to a glass that provides unclear vision in most cases. Contact lenses also provide improved vision for people who have damaged cornea.

Uses of Contact Lens:

The main use of contact lens is to correct short sightedness. Contact lenses can be used to rectify certain eye related problems like astigmatism, presbyopia, hyperopia and aphakia. To solve the problem of irregular corneal trauma rigid lens is used where as soft lens are used as bandage for continuous corneal erosion and bullous keratopathy for more soothing to the eyes.

Types of Contact Lenses:

With new inventions and changes in the lifestyle, people have found these contact lenses to be safe and convenient to use when compared to glasses. As they are thin, hemispherical vault discs made of complex plastic materials. Contact lenses are positioned in front of the outer layer, which is transparent called cornea, to view images onto the retina at the back of the eye.

There are two types of contact lens:

Rigid Gas Permeable : It is also known as RGP. They are semi-rigid lenses made of acrylate and flurosilicon which are plastics that allows oxygen to pass through the eyes. They allow maximum oxygen to reach to the eye as they are smallest and that is the reason why they are known to be clinically safe. In addition, they are durable in nature that helps them to provide good clarity of vision.

Soft Lens: This type of contact lens is made of water-absorbing plastics, which make them elastic for maximum comfort. They are very much suited for sports personalities as they are difficult to dislodge from eyes. In addition, a new silicon based soft lens provides maximum oxygen to the cornea. With the help of modern techniques, soft lenses can be corrected for refractive errors and according to life styles.

Defect of Contact lens:

People who have irritation due to duet, allergies, and chemicals find difficult to use contact lens. There are certain cases where a person finds it difficult to use contact lenses. They have certain issues with dry eyes related to pregnancy, antihistamines, antihistamines and some eye diseases prevents a person from using contact lens.

Future of Contact Lens:

In the future contact lenses will be manufactured with such a material that provides maximum oxygen permeability, since lack of oxygen to cornea results into deprivation of the cornea, which results into many disorders. In addition, the material that is used in the manufacture of contact lens should be nature friendly so that it can provide more clear vision with fewer problems.

A contact lens with no problems will mean that more and more people will start using it, as there would be no infections and eye disorders. So ultimately, the end result should be such that people should think that use of contact lens will benefit in their well being and would provide more safety then spectacles.
